Being on stage, part of any production, is the result of months of hard work. If you’ve been following these blogs, you will see just how much goes on and how important every detail is. Me? I get to sit and watch each and every show and this is my perspective.

“Ode to the Cast”

I wonder if they’re nervous

As opening night draws near?

Do they get to sleep at night

Or do they have a fear?

Fear of tripping on the stage

Or singing out of tune?

Fear of missing what to say

Or dancing way too soon?

What happens if they miss a line

Or forget to come on stage?

Panic sets in…oh dear me

Will they end up in a rage?

Never fear our Oliver cast

I’m here to steer you right.

Just in case those nerves creep in

You’re not to get a fright.

You’ll see me sitting close to you

But not quite on the set.

So never worry on the stage

If lines you do forget.

I’m quiet and I’m subtle

If you need me give a nod.

I’ll feed the line right up to you

From my little pod.

I think I worry more than you

But that’s part of my role.

If you see I’m looking stressed

Well, prompting takes its toll.

So here’s to all your hard work cast,

Showtime is nearly here.

So ‘break a leg’ as the saying goes

And let’s get into gear.

“Ode to the Cast of Oliver” as seen by your prompt.
